Pediatric Craniosacral Therapy

Service Description

Through gentle, non-invasive touch, the infant/child's craniosacral system (CSS) is treated, by working with the body's self-correcting mechanisms. The CSS has the ability to influence every system in the body in order to treat the person, not the disease or symptoms. Because no system ever works alone, in the body and within the family unit, parents/caregivers and siblings will likely receive treatment during a session. Often, toddlers and kids, feel more comfortable after seeing a parent get worked on which is also why they are family sessions. Please leave your expectations of what a session will look like at the door. Trying to coerce them onto the table never gets us anywhere. The challenge is working with their nervous system and helping them feel safe and comfortable. It is incredibly helpful for their health providing that space for them. If they want to receive the work sitting under the table, playing with a toy, that's perfectly fine. Peering out the window, looking for creatures in the pond, that works too. It isn't going to look like you expect it to. Another common expectation is wanting a symptom treated. That is not how CST works. You have to go where their body says. We treat the person, not the symptoms or dysfunction. That said, the kid has a head issue, it'll likely get hands on it, but probably not right away. Remember, everything is connected. **For initial visits, 90 minutes is preferred. This allows us enough time to go over all the things and treat without feeling rushed. However, some children don’t have the mental bandwidth to be at an appointment that long and others are used to receiving hands on treatment, so a 60 minute session may be more appropriate. Entirely up to you, your needs and budget. Required for children under 13, unless waived by therapist.
